Lots to think about, especially in times of trouble.

Rush, you are wrong, today.

I did not have time to listen to El Rushbo today, but I did catch some of the transcript, linked from Drudge Report.

Rush, you are wrong.

The Santa Claus analogy is facile, Maha Rushie, and it makes superficial sense, but it smells like quitter talk. It is a license to give up and not engage, or, as the teachers say in Rio Linda, "I need a break from this classroom of screaming kids."

I’d hate to see you jump the proverbial shark because the nefarious BHO caught a lucky break.

It’s OK if you feel down in the mouth for another day or so, Prof. Limbaugh, but I hope you trim your sails and get back in the race by Open Line Friday.

You didn’t build that cancer cure moonshot

It is interesting to see people donating many millions of dollars for this bold plan at M.D. Anderson — a "moonshot" approach to cure eight specific forms of cancer.

MD Anderson Cancer Center building ‘moonshot’ for cancer cure

The nation’s largest cancer center is launching a massive “moonshot” effort against eight specific forms of the disease, similar to the all-out push for space exploration 50 years ago.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston expects to spend as much as $3 billion on the project over the next 10 years and already has “tens of millions” of dollars in gifts to jump start it now, said its president, Dr. Ronald DePinho.

Notice that the funding Dr. DePinho mentions first is the private donations, refutatiously refudiating the BHO nonsense about "You didn’t build that," to which I reply, "Bah! Tell that to M.D. Anderson!"

The Jerusalem Post: The Europeans’ skewed view of circumcision

The Jerusalem Post: The Europeans’ skewed view of circumcision.

The Chief Rabbi presents an interesting way to analyze this as “justification by the highest source of authority in the culture at any given age.”

I agree with you, Chief Rabbi. In every age they try to destroy the Jews, but usually by some new strategy —

This time it is just to persecute and destroy them because of _______.

— and you fill in the blank with the highest source of authority in the prevailing culture.

And it makes one wonder: what other grinning works of violence do they seek to establish under color of law or justice?

Ezekiel Emanuel

The previous president, George W. Bush, had heart. No matter what else you might say about him, skills or inabilities, errors or successes, you have to admit, the man had heart.

Pres. Bush comforts a young girl, Ashley Faulkner, whose mother perished in the terrorist attacks, Sept. 11, 2001.

Pres. Bush gets on top of the wreckage with a retired firefighter helping out at the World Trade Center, a few days after Sept. 11, 2001.

Now compare that to the current president, Barack Obama. I cannot think of any photos of him showing real heart. This is more typical:

Nose up in the air, in a classroom of little kids.

There is the big difference between them: George W. Bush as president had heart; Barack H. Obama as president has no heart. No contest.

Crowd size at D.C. mall, with new crowd size rating scale

After some debate and consideration at the Pajamas Media website concerning the size of yesterday’s big rally in D.C., I developed a new rating scale for crowd size.

  1. Ginormulous = Original MLK I Have a Dream event
  2. Ginormous = ?
  3. Gigantic = ?
  4. Enormous = ?
  5. Humongotorious = ?
  6. Humongous = ?
  7. Huge = Aug. 28, 2010 honor rally
  8. Massive = ?
  9. Big = ?
  10. Sharpton-like

  11. Critical mass

  12. Esperanto convention
  13. Rahm Emanuel Ethics Society

It needs some more photographic examples of D.C. crowds for the upper end of the scale, from ginormous down to humongous. You can have a lot of fun with this. Post a comment if you have a good example. 😀
